Senior Data Modeler for Rational Rose to Erwin model translation
The Data Analytics and Engineering (DAE) organization of *** Global Retail Marketing is expanding its data modeling team. DAE Data Modelers design analytical databases that translate complex business data into usable computer systems. Data Modelers work with data architects to design databases and data structures that meet organizational needs using conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
An ideal DAE Data Modeler is an analytical and creative thinker who is not intimidated by roadblocks and challenges. They understand how to successfully evaluate problems and develop appropriate solutions. Data Modelers perform well under pressure, possessing great focus while completing projects efficiently. They should be able to work well as part of a team, but also carry responsibility for their own work. Data Modelers also need to be able to work on multiple projects at a time, with the ability to quickly understand and incorporate new technologies. Below are the skills and abilities that DAE will look for in this Data Modeler position.
What you will do:
• Work with the Data Office, DAE and Application Development teams to translate an extensive existing DB2 model from Rational Rose (2003 version) to Erwin (current version)
• Assist with the generation and analysis of DDL generated by Rose and Erwin
• Participate in Data Governance procedures and policy management
What you will need:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar
• 5+ years experience developing Conceptual, Logical & Physical data models for a data lake and data warehouse
• 5+ years experience with modeling Rational Rose
• 5+ years experience with ERwin modeling (exposure to the version we are currently using: Erwin Data Modeler 2020 R2)
• Experience in reverse engineer databases
• Experience with using the bulk editor in ERwin
• Experience with DB2 z/OS
• Software Development experience with SQL
• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively on large scale data projects
Experience in these areas is a Plus:
• Experience in the insurance industry
• Experience with Snowflake and/or Data Vault
• Experience with industry standard data models such as ACORD
• Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica or Snaplogic
• Exposure with messaging solution like Kafka and MQ
